7 London labs still running E-6 — Velvia, Provia, and Ektachrome on the menu
E-6 slide processing has been disappearing across Europe — most cities now have zero or one lab still running it. London is the exception: 7 labs in this city run E-6 weekly or on a regular schedule, which means you can actually send Velvia 50, Provia 100F, or Ektachrome E100 and get it back without a six-week wait. Each one runs the process slightly differently — different machines, different batch schedules, different scan handling for the transparency. The details are below.

- When's the next E-6 run? Most labs batch E-6 on a fixed weekday because the chemistry economics demand a minimum tank load. Time your drop-off so your roll doesn't sit for a week before going in.
- Cross-processing — yes or no? If you want C-41 chemistry on slide film for that desaturated, contrasty look, ask first. Some labs will do it on request; some refuse to run slide stock through their C-41 line at all.
- Scan handling for slides is different. A transparency needs a scanner that can pull tone from a positive original — Imacon, Hasselblad Flextight, or a recent Frontier with the slide mask are the safer choices. Ask which scanner the lab will use before the roll goes in.
